Comtech CDS-100 · Exact manual and safe first checks

Comtech CDS-100 · MN-CDS100 Rev 1 · archived 2024-07-05

Applies to: Comtech CDS-100 · MN-CDS100 Rev 1 · archived 2024-07-05

Work through these checks

  1. 01 · Comtech CDS-100

Match the exact model, product code and manual edition. Record the existing connections, status indicators and displayed error without changing them. Preserve settings and stored data; do not reset, flash software, format storage or alter wiring as a first check. Keep account details, device identifiers and precise location private.

  2. 02 · CDS-100 / MN-CDS100 / IF / DIP / Unit+EXT / Online / A/B

Match CDS-100 to MN-CDS100 Revision 1 and the exact installed modem configuration. This controller monitors modem and external-control status to select the Online chain. It does not switch IF or data itself. Do not use CRS-170A RF-switch wiring or fault assumptions. The green A/B indications identify the selected chain, not a proven healthy satellite path. Read both modem alarms and available external-controller status; a common external clock or upstream fault can affect both chains without requiring a switchover. Preserve the existing DIP positions, including Unit+EXT, rather than changing selection to make a light move. The controller receives power through the modem control connections; do not add a supply, short control inputs or disconnect a modem as a test. Hardware, firmware and cable-kit requirements are model-specific, and configuration synchronization can alter the standby modem automatically. Have the network operator coordinate any replacement, transfer or wiring work. Preserve dated evidence and private site identifiers. The linked original is an existing archived manufacturer document, not a promise of universal compatibility or current service availability.

When to stop and get help

Do not continue these checks in unsafe conditions. For immediate danger, use local emergency services and the device’s emergency instructions. Otherwise, contact your provider or a qualified technician.

What to tell support

Write down your exact model, service provider and on-screen message. Photograph the existing connections for your own reference before changing anything.
