How it connects
- Installed satellite dish Coax to Satellite In
- Network Power Adapter Ethernet to WAN
- Viasat Wi-Fi Gateway 3
Check both power connections and the adapter switch. The dish coax connects to Satellite In on the adapter; its Ethernet cable connects to the gateway WAN port. Inspect the existing routing without loosening coax or swapping cables.
Lights and messages
- Read the label of each light. An online Gateway 3 can have a white Status light while WAN and Wi-Fi indicators go dark after ten seconds.
- White Status with blinking white WAN means connection is being attempted; white Status with red WAN means the internet link is down. Blinking white Status with red WAN also appears during boot or software update. Record the combination and whether it changes before deciding it is a persistent fault.
A light is one clue, not a complete diagnosis. Match the indicator’s label and the on-screen message.
Before buying parts
- Keep account and admin credentials private. Preserve network settings; do not press Reset or move the dish to investigate an indicator. Stop for damaged cables or electrical faults.
